Objectives:

  1. Develop and implement genomic selection methods to accelerate breeding for faster and precise incorporation of grain yield, test weight, lodging resistance, low DON, disease resistance and tolerance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) in advanced breeding materials.

  2. Incorporate high grain yield, lodging resistance, and disease resistance traits into new barley varieties for producers and end-users in eastern Canada.

  3. Evaluate western Canadian advanced barley breeding lines for their suitability and adaptation in eastern Canada.
